Race Recap: Burnett double downs with a pair of victories for MRM

Steven Burnett lead MRM in a pair of victories this week running the Nastrack Xfinty Series on Monday night and the Southern Motorsports Cindasfinds Sprint Cup Series on Thursday night. Monday night, Burnett would start 4th and lead 44 of the scheduled 55 laps at Pocono and bring home win his second win of the season. "We had one of the best cars tonight that has come out of the shop", Burnett said in a post race interview. "The guys really worked hard to give me a front running car. I know we are already in the chase, but it still feels good to come out here a win against some fast guys." This win puts Burnett 2nd in points starting the chase. When Thursday night came, Burnett would start 5th in the 135 lap race at Michigan International Speedway. Burnett would drop back to seventh early, but pit strategy would fall in to play as there were only two cautions all race. Burnett would take the lead around lap 115 but a caution with ten to go would change everything. Burnett would take the green and they would make it three wide going into turn one. Burnett held onto the led out of two and bring home his second win of the week. "We really thought that last caution was going to hurt us because we didn't have a good car on the short runs, but when they started battling hard, it help us pull away and hang on for the victory." The week coming up is an off week for both series. This will give the guys a little more time to get all the cars ready has they head back to Michigan Monday night, then Sonoma Raceway Thursday night.
